AJ Mitchell drops Skyview Deluxe

Gold-certified singer-songwriter AJ Mitchell presents the definitive edition of his full-length debut album, SKYVIEW Deluxe, today. He expands the tracklisting with a trio of showstopping new live recordings and stunning accompanying performance visuals for each live track.

Get the SKYVIEW Deluxe HERE via Vol 1./Epic Records.

In the videos for the live tracks, a retro-style SKYVIEW sign hangs from the ceiling, watching over the rising star as he performs. He delivers emotional and entrancing renditions of “Miss You (Live in LA)” (watch it HERE) and “I Choose You (Live in LA)” (watch it HERE) joined by a masked string quintet, bringing orchestral bombast to his raw, naked vocals. Meanwhile, a pianist and background singers harmonize with him during an intoxicating take on “Cheap Red Wine (Live in LA)” (watch it HERE).

Check out the full tracklisting below.

Upon initially releasing SKYVIEW, Mitchell shared the music video for “Hi-Lo.” Right out of the gate, it amassed over 1.1 million YouTube views and counting. Not to mention, tracks from the record have cumulatively tallied just shy of 1 billion streams thus far.

This is SKYVIEW as it was meant to be—on stage in widescreen and alive.

A full circle moment, the album is executive produced by the legendary Mike Dean [Kanye West, Drake], who produced AJ’s breakthrough and debut single “Used To Be.” Released earlier this fall, SKYVIEW traces AJ’s journey from the tiny Illinois town of Belleville to the doorstep of stardom—on his own terms. Named after the drive-in movie theater he grew up going to as an escape from his everyday life, SKYVIEW is true coming-of-age record. It includes previously shared fan favorites such as “Cameras On,” “Stop,” “Slow Dance” [feat. Ava Max], and the aforementioned, “Used To Be.”

SKYVIEW is the summary of my artist journey up until now,” explains AJ. “As a kid, the Skyview Drive-In theater was a place in my small town of Belleville, Illinois that had the power to transport me into a world of endless possibilities. Today, SKYVIEW is proof that anything can happen if you are willing to take the risk and do the work necessary to make any dream come true.”

Meanwhile, he continues to garner critical acclaim and attention. Recently, American Songwriter noted, “On his new record, Mitchell displayed the signature singing ability and pop draw that made him a talked-about artist (see: ‘Slow Dance’). Be he also demonstrates a reflective side.” Of “Stop,” MTV praised, “Mitchell climbs the scales, then rides them back down, making for a sensuous jam primed for the beat of the bedroom.” TMRW Magazine commented that “SKYVIEW will give the world a glimpse into where his story began,” while Hunger Magazine called him a “pop prince in-the-making.” Idolator dubbed AJ a breakout artist on the heels of “a steady stream of very good singles,” yet Variety may have put it best, proclaiming that SKYVIEW “seems likely to cement his stardom.”

That time is now. Welcome to SKYVIEW.
