Amelia Moore and ASTN Fall in Love with their "next door" Neighbors

Amelia Moore and ASTN released their single, “next door,” on September 23 via Capitol Records. In this chill R&B-pop banger, Amelia and ASTN are falling for their new next-door neighbors.

In the first verse, ASTN sings about his perspective of seeing the girl next door. “I was looking outside when she caught my eye/A pretty thing moving things in the house right next to mine. Wonder what it's like to be next to you/Oh, are you busy tonight? Can I give you a hand with the move?”

ASTN further goes on about his perspective of the girl in the pre-chorus when he thinks out loud about how she might feel about him. “Wonder if I'm her type, know that it's her first night/Wanna play it cool but I can't wait too long.”

In the chorus of the song, ASTN sings, “I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love with the girl next door. Never been so in love with a girl like this before/She's got no idea how I'm really feeling.”

Amelia’s verse and chorus follow a similar format to ASTN's, which helps build a playful dynamic between them in “next door.”

In the second verse, Amelia sings, “I was just outside, when I saw this guy/6'3" white tee with the Nikes, ooh, he's just my type/Boy, won't you just come on over, both of your hands on my shoulders.”

Amelia goes on about the boy in the pre-chorus. “I can see you staring through the window/We should go ahead and skip the intro/We can start it slow and see where things go.”

In the chorus, Amelia sings about how she’s in love with the boy next door. The bridge is our favorite part of the song because Amelia and ASTN come together to cut the tension.

Amelia and ASTN sing back and forth in the bridge, “I can see you staring through the window/Can we go ahead and skip the intro? Cut the tension with a knife/Know you want to take a bite/Take it slow and see where things go.”

In the final chorus of the song, Amelia and ASTN sing back and forth, “I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love with the girl next door/Boy next door, with the girl next door. I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love with the boy next door.”

We love this song because of its chill flirty vibe. Amelia and ASTN have great chemistry throughout the song and their voices complement each other. ASTN’s mellow vocals blend with Amelia’s bold vocals perfectly.

“next door” is the perfect song to play to at a chill party or on your way to the club. This song gives us modern day Usher and Alicia Keys “My Boo” vibes, but make it Gen Z and poppy. We think “next door” should be added to your playlist if you love 90s nostalgia and cute love songs.
