After releasing their second album, Young and Dangerous, in October of 2018, The Struts have finally made their way back to the US to begin the North American leg of their Young and Dangerous tour. On the third night of the tour (July 1st), the British band played a show at the historic Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona. The scorching heat of 110°F outdoors was nothing compared to the heat the group brought on stage.
Once fans were let inside, many of whom had been camping outside all day, The Glorious Sons took the stage as an opening act. After a phenomenal set from them, The Struts took the stage. Any time a headliner walks on stage the crowd goes wild, but the suspense that came before The Struts walked on stage was something else. They came on to their song “Primadonna Like Me” which was likely the best song they could’ve chosen from their discography to set the tone for the evening.
The interaction the band has with their audience on stage is always so sincere and entertaining. Lead singer Luke Spiller is always having the crowd jump, scream, sing, clap, or splitting them up to have a sing-off. At one point he even tells the entire venue to crouch down to the ground and jump up as fast as everyone could on his count. Spiller calls it turning the crowd into “fireworks.” Spending the night as a Struts audience member is a blast, probably the most fun anyone could have at a concert. The group truly puts the crowd’s experience first, and it shows in everything they do.
The Struts are Luke Spiller on vocals, Adam Slack on guitar, Jed Elliott on bass guitar, and Gethin Davies on drums. The Young and Dangerous tour is just kicking off, so if there is a show near you, and you’re looking to see a stunning show, jump at the opportunity to see them!
