Olivia Rodrigo takes us on an emotional road trip with “driving home 2 u (a SOUR film)”

"Olivia Rodrigo driving home 2 u" official poster by Disney+

The global pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo is back on our screens more successful than ever. At only 18 she is already making herself a name in the music industry, her debut album SOUR spawned 2 #1s hits such as Driver License and Good 4 U and amassed 385 Million streams on its first week on Spotify making it the biggest opening for a female artist in history. She is currently up for 7 GRAMMYs nominations on Sunday (April 3)

And the pop star didn’t stop there, she just collaborated with Disney + on a film documentary about her #1 record-breaking album "SOUR". This 1 hour long docu-film shares footage of the original making of the album, as well as fun facts about the record, and all of this is structured with exclusive performances of her hit songs with brand new re-arrangements.

The film is shot on a retro camera which gives it an indie nostalgic vibe that matches Rodrigo's personality and captures the 2020s teenager aesthetic. The cameos of her and Dan Nigro (her producer) working on the record were really enjoyable and gives a brand new perspective on this massive project. Olivia delivers amazing performances of her hit songs such as ”good 4 u” “jealousy jealousy” ”brutal” ” driver's license” or even ”favorite crime”, all of this accompanied by refreshing surroundings such as a calm Californian beach, a peaceful neighborhood or even a chill 70s van on an empty idyllic road.

Olivia Rodrigo offers us a kind of personal diary with this docu-film, it’s full of realness, honesty, feelings, and simplicity. A really fun project to watch if you are interested in the making of that soon to be a superstar.
