Baltimore-based punk rock band, Pinkshift, released their second single “i’m gonna tell my therapist on you." This track is from their upcoming debut EP. Following the steady rise of On Thin Ice, this next single features a new level of raw energy that aims to excite listeners with their dialed-up angst.

“i’m gonna tell my therapist on you” is inspired by experiences and frustrations of being tossed away by society and the mental health system, specifically being labeled “cr*zy.”

“It’s about being tossed between specialists and feeling unheard while existing in the healthcare system. As a band, we put together a sound that really expresses that feeling of ‘looking cr*zy.’ I wanted to be able to reclaim that feeling and make it something powerful that I hope others can relate to.” -Ashrita Kumar

The song is driven by the barebones of power chords and punk drumming. Listeners will be met with eerie chord progressions and classic punk energy as the core elements of this single.

Pinkshift is a female-fronted rock band new to the scene from Baltimore. With writing inspired by 90s grunge and 2000s pop-punk, the band walks the lines between riot grrl, punk rock, and post-hardcore. Melting together different musical and cultural roots by a common love for angsty rock, the band embraces their diverse backgrounds to create an authentic and powerful sound.

The band’s music is recommended for fans who like the sound of Mannequin Pussy, Destroy Boys, and early Paramore. Listeners will feel post-hardcore energy vibes similar to Pierce the Veil, and note dark chord progressions of the likes of My Chemical Romance and Microwave.

Pinkshift is Ashrita Kumar (vocals), Paul Vallejo (guitar), Myron Houngbedji (drums), Erich Weinroth (bass).
