The pop icon, richest female musician, and CEO of Fenty Beauty, Rihanna, is officially back in the music game. The singer just announced on her social media that she will be dropping her first solo song in over 6 years, which will serve as the lead single for the soundtrack of the upcoming ‘Black Panther: Wakanda film.
The single titled ‘Lift Me’ is set to drop this Friday, October 28th. The singer also recorded another song called ‘Born Again’ which will be featured on the soundtrack set to release on November 4. Rihanna’s last solo drop was her 8th studio album ‘Anti’ which came out in January 2016 and spawned international hits such as ‘Work’, ‘Needed Me' and even ‘Love On The Brain’.
According to Variety, ‘Lift Me Up’ is a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther actor. The song is written by Nigerian producer Tems, Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson, director Ryan Coogler and Rihanna herself.
According to multiple music critics who have heard the song exclusively, the song is a ballad featuring big vocals from the pop singer.
This new music announcement comes after it was recently revealed that Rihanna will be headlining next year's Super Bowl Halftime Show, one of the biggest musical events, marking her first live performance since 2017. So is this the start of a brand new musical era for the superstar?
